Most people have used the Gmail app or another email service app. Some have great features and some not so much. In this article, we will be sharing the best tips for Gmail as well as the best add-ons for Gmail. Unsend sent messages, Check for errors

Unsend sent messages

This is a great feature that is included but hidden in Gmail. To activate it you need to go into the settings and do so. You can set a cancelation period of 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds. Once activated you can send emails normally and a yellow undo option will appear under the search bar within Gmail.

  • Go to settings

  • select general tab

  • select “enable undo send”

  • click save

Check your email for spelling errors

This is something that everyone needs, some more than others (us). Within the actual composing of your email in Gmail, you can check your spelling. There are two ways you can do this. One is within the Gmail system and the other requires an awesome browser extension called Grammarly. Follow the directions below to do it with Gmail.

  • Compose your email normally

  • Click arrow in the bottom right hand corner of the email popup or box

  • Select “check spelling”

  • Errors will be highlighted in yellow

  • Fix errors

Grammarly is a much better alternative and works within almost any text box within the browser.

Import non-Gmail accounts into Gmail

This is a nice feature for those that use multiple providers or have sites with email addresses attached to them. It is a very simple process and can be done from the desktop/laptop browser, Gmail app, and the inbox app. Desktop/Laptop instructions

  • From Gmail got to settings

  • Select Accounts and Import

  • Click “Add an email account”

  • Enter your email

  • You can select to Gmailify your account or just import

  • To import simply enter you email details from your provider

Gmail Labs Features

Google is always testing new features and some of their apps have the ability to turn these features on and off. Gmail is one of the apps that has many features that can be turned on if you need them. To find them follow the instructions below.

  • Select settings

  • Select labs

  • Enable the features you want to turn on

Some of the features that are available at the time of writing this article are: Auto-advance, canned responses, keyboard shortcuts, mark as “read” button, multiple inboxes, preview pane, right-side chat and an unread messages counter.
