Streaming Tv – Control Your Living Room

Cut The Cord

Television has held a special place in all of our hearts and lives since its inception. So much that we are now able to watch it everywhere. Phones, walls, bathrooms….gas pumps. They are everywhere and finding/paying for only the content you want is easier than ever.

That’s right folks, you don’t have to pay for a ton of channels you never watch or only able to watch a program when it’s being aired. It’s a watch that you want at the time you want the world. You just have to cut the cord.

The remainder of this post is divided into two sections.

Video streaming services & Devices to help cut the cord

On to the streaming!

Some of the paid choices available are:

  • Amazon Prime video – has its own video service included in Prime membership. Also if you get a fire stick or other Amazon tv box adding subscriptions to your fire tv interface such as stars, HBO or Showtime is super easy
  • Netflix – video streaming service with many top titles
  • Hulu – video streaming service with some titles
  • IPTV service – More like cable but pay for what you want
  • Sling TV – 20 -50 channel packages
  • HBO Go – Stream HBO for a decent price
  • Youtube TV – $40 a month, add-ons like showtime
  • Philo TV –

Some that should be paid services are:

Kodi – a simply a media player and plays everything. It has skins to make the user experience different or match your viewing preferences. The platform is open source and can pull video stream data (repository) from a website or the internet to create the media libraries.

That basically means that a video library like Netflix is available for you if Kodi is loaded with a good repository (video libraries, sort of). The current “best” repository changes from time to time but the current info is easy to find. We probably made a post about it!

Some free services to try:

  • Crackle – free video streaming service that created “Joe Dirt 2”
  • Popcorn time – lacking real usability
  • Popcornflix – loaded very few of the titles
