“iPad Pro 10.5 & 12.9” in the eyes of a TechAdict

First Look

Apple has been touting its iPad Pro lineup as something that will enable you to switch over from a traditional laptop to this tablet. With upgraded specs and improvements over the regular iPad, it’s certainly more suited to the task than other tablets on the market. However, even without the Keyboard and Apple Pencil, the cheapest model still comes in at $649. This can go up to over $1000, with the 512GB LTE model.

The Smart Keyboard is $159, while the pencil is $99. This means that the price of the iPad Pro is well within the range of what would generally be considered a high-end laptop. This device in available in a 10.5” and 12.9” models, which are effectively the same in most regards.

The Details

The Apple iPad Pro is equipped with the A10X that gives a 30% performance boost from the previous generation, according to Apple. The device can certainly handle multitasking well and doesn’t struggle with even the heaviest of workloads. The new features from iOS 11 really help solidify the full PC replacement route as the new dock mode and split-screen features really help with multi-tasking. This makes the iPad Pro feel more like a traditional desktop OS in this regard, even if it isn’t quite there yet.

In addition to this, the capabilities of the Apple Pencil are improved with this OS update. You can draw on PDFs and photos, along with using Instant Notes. This feature makes the iPad a very useful tool.

The display is bright and crisp, which is to be expected from Apple. The ProMotion technology, which is what Apple calls the 120Hz refresh rate with adaptive sync, actually makes the touchscreen and general use feel faster. The iPad Pro offers a decent media experience as well as it has stereo speakers and has the same 12MP camera that is present on the iPhone 7.

Conclusion

The decision to buy an iPad Pro really depends on your specific use case. While it may suffice as the main computer for some people, others may still need a desktop OS for compatibility or specific software. For those who can use it as their main device, the iPad Pro 10.5” and 12.9” offer great value. However, as a secondary tablet, the price tag just isn’t worth it and you’re probably better getting a cheaper Android tablet.

You can Also perform a “hard reboot”. This basically resets and temp storage files and clears any errors, as well as a few other fixes.

To do this Hold down the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together for at least 10 seconds, or until you see the Apple logo.
