What are the Potential Risks

Visiting a business and it has free WiFi is great. You get a little boost in speed (which cellular is quickly reaching the same speed limits) and break on your cell connection. But you are really opening your device up to potential threats?

  • Any Transmitted Data Can Be Intercepted
  • Use SSL Connections Only – More Protection
  • Use Your Cellular Instead  For Any Secure Use
  • VPN’s Can Protect If Used But Are Not 100%

Hacker Manifesto of the Stars

Hackers are everywhere and seeing your sensitive data on public Wi-Fi is like a cake walk for even a loser hacker. These guys are learning to break things better and better every day. Not sure why they do what they do because on a small level it seems to have no value whatsoever.

  • They Are Just People – That Like to Destroy
  • Hacked Devices for Multi-Device Attacks
  • Some Steal Sensitive Data When Connected
  • Some Hack for Good – White Hat Hacker
  • Destructive Hackers are Called “Black Hat”

No matter what, you should take any precautions you can, free or paid, to give yourself a fighting chance and make sure you’re prepared if they come knocking at your door. This is easier said than done but if you follow the simple suggestions in this article you stand a fighting chance!

How Can I Protect Myself?

When on public Wi-Fi follow these guidelines to be secure for sure:

  • Don’t Access Password Secured Accounts
  • Use a VPN for Protection From Prying Typers
  • Keep Your Computer and Software Up to Date
  • Turn Off Wireless Sharing Features
  • Wait Patiently Until Wifi Becomes Secure

If you want to be really secure get a VPN (it’s equal to a buffer in between you and whatever site you view, protecting your identity. The VPN will protect you with its own protecting capability)

  • Encrypts Data Transmissions
  • Protects Against Unwanted Ads
  • Not 100% but Only World Powers did it
  • Does Not Protect Against Malware
  • Does Not Protect Against Viruses

What Can They Possibly Do With My Data?

It may not have happened to you yet and might never, but, are you willing to not at least take the time to prepare yourself for something that happens daily to thousands?

  • Stolen Passwords To Bank, or other Account
  • Damage to Online Persona or Business Rep
  • Purchases You’re Responsible For Paying
  • Borrow Money With Your Identity
